I did not have particularly high expectations for this book, but the price was right. What makes this book teriffic and unique are the original photos taken by the author. These are not the usual stock pictures you see in many ocean liner / cruise ship books. Many were taken from the New Jersey side of NY harbor showing the liners departing with Manhattan in the background. There are many large color shots of ships you don't often see like the Amerikanis, Horizon, Regal Empress and the legendary Britannis. I am happy to add this to my collection.

My husband and I are recovering from an affair. Shortly after revelation we both bought and studied this book in the hopes that it might help him figure out why he fell to having an affair in the first place and to see what he might be able to do to guard himself (and to guard my heart) against such follies in the future.It is definitely written for men. The author is very clear on this. There is little that would be of use directly to women for the most part in my opinion. He does reference a book within these pages that would be geared toward women in the same manner but the name of it escapes me now.I have two main thoughts on this book. The first is that men should read it. The information is good and easy to understand. For men it might well help keep you from ever getting to a point where you would be tempted to have an affair. If you are already being tempted to cheat or struggle with issues like porn you should read this as well and learn what to do and how to defend yourself and get out now before you do cheat (in many ways it could be argued that viewing porn is a way of cheating already, and it can definitely desensitize you in regards to women that it could be a gateway to having an affair.).Second is that it might give wives an insight into the struggles of their husbands when it comes to the eyes, the heart, and sex. It can help you help your husband if he is reading it by knowing what he might be doing internally or thinking and with that knowledge you can encourage and support him with trying to implement and practice what is laid out in this book.My only singular issue with this book is that Mr. Jenkins does not address one point. He says to flee temptation and he is very correct. However I wish he would have addressed the fact that if you are constantly finding yourself in situations you have to flee you very well may need to look at your heart and your behaviors and find out if those are the root of the issue that you need to change in order to keep you from constantly finding yourself in circumstances where you would have to flee. In essence fleeing from temptation is a good thing, but it would be best to avoid temptation as much as possible outright and long before you have to flee. In many circumstances it would stand to reason that once you get to the point of needing to flee you've already let something go to far. And for some men, contrary to what the author suggests this very well could be that "lingering first look". In this regard I felt the author was too permissive of men. I have read other books that urge men not to linger on that first look (let's be honest, a first look is unavoidable but lingering isn't) but to refocus their thoughts, eyes and attention on their wives. If their wife isn't there at that moment then their thoughts at the very least. One book goes so far as to urge men to rethink their definition of beauty and try to get it entrenched in their mind and change their heart and mind to get men to define beauty by their wives! This book would have been utterly phenomenal if the author had delved into those concepts rather then seemingly excuse the supposed nature of men as something that couldn't be helped or altered.

My husband and I were married forty years when our Couples Class made the decision to study the book "Hedges" by Jerry Jenkins. No one can ever know too much about the most important human relationship in this life. Jenkins wrote a well researched and thorough book on how to protect your marriage and avoid the temptations and pitfalls that come along and all too often destroy many lives if not determined that your marriage is worth protecting. A year ago two classmates that were each married 43 years to other people, reconnected on a community web site. Recently I saw pictures of their honeymoon. Beside their ex-spouses, children,grandchildren that are still in shock, there is an entire community in disbelief. "Hedges" should be given to each couple during their premarital counseling.

This book is a self-help manual for the strengthening and maintenance of a Healthy marriage. It is to be read with an open heart and an open mind as everyone is on a different spiritual developmental journey. I wholeheartedly recommend this book!!

I was asked to read this when I was getting married, so I did. There really is no reason to read it. All you need are the chapter names and you get the idea. It is generally good advice, so those who need to be hand-held through how to properly act, should read this right away. Everyone else, just read the chapter titles and you'll get it.

I have used this when I was stationed by myself and I found it helpful I have shared this with others and now I am giving this to another minister to use with his military personnel.

I found typos in the book, do not buy.

I love this study guide! Best buy I could have purchased. I failed the cbest the first time so now seeing this book is just perfect!

Test Prep Books are well-known to me for making a quality product. Their strategies work. I have more than one of their prep books and find it to be the most efficient way to remember/practice/prep for a particular problem. However, I find the layout, font, use of images or diagrams in this particular product to be slightly less eye-catching or engaging. In spite of my struggle with page 23, which seems conceptually disjointed, I would still recommend this book. In fact, page 53-55 is an excellent example of how to break-down word problems into easy baby steps. The table presented there is extremely easy to refer to because it is so simple and well organized.

Pages 51 through 55 of CBEST Math Preparation 2018 & 2019 book have been so helpful for my students.The first sentence sums it all up; "Word problems, or story problems, are math problems that have real-world context."The examples are things that students will encounter when doing household budgets, estimating fuel costs for trips, etc.The study guide states that the "usual procedure for solving these problems is to start by giving each quantity in the problem a variable, and then figuring the relationship between these variables."My students do well with instructions such as these. They want to know exactly how to start tackling their problems.Very good math prep. book.

This is a great test prep book that has a free DVD offer for extra help. Inside there are great testing sections with detailed answer explanations. The sections consist of estimation, measurement, statistical principles, computation, problem solving, numerical/graphic relationships, and so much more. I recommend it.

This is a concise study guide. It covers all the topics, but if you haven't had math in a while, there are not a lot of examples. It is mostly explanations or definitions or formulas. There is normally one example. (I need more than that personally.) They do have 2 practice tests in the back with explanations in the answer key, that helped explain some of the types of problems I had questions on. Overall not bad. It would probably be perfect for someone who had high school math only 3-4 years ago.

Absolutely love this study guide. It has great test taking tips, explains the CBEST Math Test, and has practice questions with great answers. It really shines with word problems and breaks down the strategy step by step!

I thought the book was organized and laid out very well. I loved how the book started with the strategies for taking the test, then introduced you to the test itself, then went into each unit with explanations that might be covered on the exam. The explanations were well done and helpful in mastering the material. The book ended with 2 practice tests to test your understanding and grasp of the test material. I would definitely recommend this book to someone.

I'd heard about this book for years from advice columns like Carolyn Hax's, and when I finally bought it and read parts of it, it really hit home. In fact, I'm having some trouble reading it all because it's bringing up some tough emotions! My dad was an alcoholic, and my childhood was chaotic and full of gaps in my learning -- especially of good people skills. This book seems to cover a lot of what I had to learn the hard way over the course of way too many years. I wish I'd read it in my 20s instead of my 60s! For example, how do you say no when you've been well trained to be a people pleaser? This book can help, and I highly recommend it -- especially if you're in your 20s! :)

I have only read part of it, but the suggestions are specific and easy to incorporate into daily life. It addresses the problems I am facing with solutions that are easy to do. It isn't vague, and doesn't feel like psycho-babble. I agree with the other review that said it might not be good for people with a mental illness. However, for those of us that are stable but just conditioned to walk on eggshells, this is extremely helpful.

It wasn't quite what I expected. It is actually a book aimed at children of alcoholics. it also seems written for teenagers or very young adults.

When I embarked upon reading this, I sincerely had no idea how much I'd wind up enjoying it.I was blown away by the many stories told by Tony and had no idea that these guys were such jokesters and trouble makers in their heyday. I couldn't believe some of the stories I was reading. It was hard to put down once I started reading. I think there was a day when I read 80 pages.It was such a pleasure hearing Tony talk in depth about many aspects of recoding each Sabbath album.Very enjoyable for me. Worth every penny. I was honestly sad when I finished reading.

Tony Iommi. The guitar player that since I was 13 have been trying to emulate. To me he was the coolest and his book proves it. From his hardscrabble life growing up in Birmingham, to losing his finger tips (OUCH!) just before his big break, to his ups and downs with the Music World and his brush with Cancer. He talks about the drugs, his wives, his band mates, and the music. With some funny stories thrown in and his thoughts on life in general Mr. Iommi makes you realize that Black Sabbath was not a bunch of Devil Worshiping Hippies from England but four Lads that love to make music and have a good time doing it. Mr. Iommi is the Godfather of Metal and him letting you inside his world to look at his mysterious life is a blessing to those who have for years chanted the spells to bring about the mastery of guitar like him. Thank you Tony for your music and your book. I can now play Black Sabbath not having to worry if Satan is going to come out of my speakers and strangle me.

I started listening to Black Sabbath in the early 70's and their music was influential towards my learning to enjoy so many types of rock music. This book brings you back and you can see why Black Sabbath was such a great band, and yet just regular guys. Tony's stories are great and in a simple way they document why this decade of music is timeless. If you like the music, you will enjoy this book and end up with a whole new perspective on heavy metal and hard rock.

For a true Black Sabbath fan, this has to be the number one item for your collection. If names like Tony Martin, Dio, Brian May and of course Ozzy(John) Bill and Geezer(Terry), Eddie Van Halen,Lita Ford are familiar to you then you will love this book. Just the meaning of the track FX on the Vol 4 album is worth the price of this book.I've been a Sab fan since I was 12....I am now 51. I cannot put this book down. I love the style of the book, it is not your average auto biography. This feels as if Mr Iommi is across the table telling you his story. If I could place a virtual bet with this book, any tru deep Black Sabbath fan will love this. Buy it!!!!!! Thank you Mr Iommi for writing this

Being a fan of rock, music literature in general, one get used to "inside sources" or some "close to the band"anonymous person talking about something he ignores.The Iommi book delivers on all fronts because it's an easy to read, enjoyable, to the point and the most gratifying part a honest, cold hard facts filled one hell of a ride.I was disappointed about the downfall starting on the '80's of the whole Sabbath name and legacy,how the neverending line up changes and the impossible to understand record label shifts.All answers are here.An open view into his prívate life, the whole issue of the wives and his daughter is very deep stuff.There's a lot of trivia material to be found here.The conclusion is, Iommi is , more than a great musician, he's a fighter, a man on a mission, a survivor, an one of a kind man.

This book is basically a 200pg book expanded to fit into 450pgs, the book was obviously based verbatim on taped interviews and it really shows in the writing. Iommi is great and has lived a great life but it's hard to tell from this bland presentation of it. He really doesn't expand on anything in detail just vague references to things here and there, luckily I already know most of the stories in here already. We made X album, played this prank on member X, played X concert, X happened, then repeat...I love Black Sabbath and Iommi but I really expected quite more from this 450pg book..

First off, whenever a new rocker auto comes out I check Amazon because it's MUCH cheaper and it's NEVER out of stock. Second, if you're smart just wait until the paperback comes out if you're not buying it to collect it because the paperback (like this one) has a couple of new chapters in it and you'll have to either go to a book store a sneak a read or buy the book again.As for Tony's book, I just started it. I actually started reading it on Amazon through the "look inside" feature, something you can only get on Amazon. It's great to see if it's going to be a book you can't put down or something you'll be bored of before you get to page 2. I'm a few chapters in and I love this book. If you read Ozzy's book you'll love this one!!

I paid for this books as much as used to pay in the past for a pack of ciggaretes. Or 2 coffes if you want. And the info is priceless. Being a truck driver in europe its difficult to buy food on a daily basis so i have to pack on nutricious foods to last a few days and be ready to eat or easy to prepare. Love sardines. If you want (and you definitely do want) quality, they are not so cheap . Be careful of sardine source. Baltic Sea source have high levels of dioxins - de f not something you want to eat a lot of.When I discovered this I knocked off my daily sardine. Habit :(. And my increasing frequent of forgetting words has decreased significantly.Note: "product of" does not indicate source necessarily, but where they are packed.Let me know if you find a good source of cheap sardines.Other than pollutants, they are crazy healthy, and low mercury. (Yeah, I love seafood...)Oh another fan of sardines? Tim Ferris. Rats a can daily for breakfast.(These both together are only 63 pages...)

Some information that will get you revvedup to try sardines. I'm looking forward tothe recipes in the next book as the fewin this book aren't what I was hoping tofind.

I have loved sardines since i was a child but never ate them any other way than on toast with a little pepper, Still my favourite way. But these recipes give you so many more ways to try them, The food value is amazing , The information combined with humour makes for a good read, well worth adding to your kindle reading.
