The author, Shuvendu Sen, is an M.D. who works in the U.S. and is a strong advocate of meditation and yoga. He cites multiple studies, along with personal experience, on how meditation can affect both the prevention and recovery from early onset alzheimer's. He brings up the very harrowing fact that alzheimer's is a disease that has been occurring more and more frequently in the world, and that it's not currently treatable, at least not effectively. The disease keeps stumping the best researchers the world over, and the costs of treating those affected, along with the number of sufferers, is skyrocketing.The author goes on to include the equally amazing and beneficial practice of yoga, in its many forms, as also a prevention for alzheimer's and as an overall boost to the health of the individual, mentally, physically, and spiritually. He uses this to segue into the last section of the book to promote the benefits of human interaction, spirituality/religion, and the need for more medical institutions to be more interactive with their patients, especially the doctors.Though the book got rather technical at times, it's absolutely fascinating and wonderful to hear from a medical doctor who is actively trying to include more "holistic" or "alternative" forms of treatment. Which is a funny point he brought up at the end, which is that these "alternative" treatments like meditation, yoga, or music therapy have been around thousands of years longer than the current "accepted" medical science. But it's also nice to see how modern medical science is really starting to meld with the old ways of treatment.Great book, highly recommended.

It leaves you with a feeling of approaching a breakthrough in the near future where such practices can be combined with allopathic medicine.

You will fill your self and you will find yourself within you. I highly recommend this book to everyone because you don't know when you gonna hit with Alzheimer's disease.

I certainly can do no better than John Behr. "The glory of God is a living human being." This first quote alone, from St Irenaeus of Lyon, contains so much theology that one could spend a lifetime studying it. That simple sentence encompases everything we know and everything we cannot know about ourselves, our relationship with humanity, and the reciprocity between us and God.But wait, there's more!

I used this to study for the Industrial F.E. Exam. It was way more detailed and difficult than the actual exam. Good practice. I was over prepared for the test, it just took a while to get through all the material even though it's a small book. I found the practice test to be more helpful

I was not super excited about the price of this book especially when I saw how small it was when I got it. It does not include the mathematics, ethics, engineering sciences, or systems engineering sections of the ISE FE exam. I looked online for the other sections but have not had a large amount of luck. I ordered a separate practice exam and I suggest you do that too. I liked that this book comes with a practice exam but it does not include the solutions, only the answers.

Extremely helpful for any IEs taking the FE

I found this book very useful. Great for refreshing yourself on material that you haven't seen in awhile or reaffirming your knowledge on material that you are familiar with. I made a weekly study schedule as suggested in the front of the book to help keep myself on track and found it helped me a lot. I paired this book with Lindeburg's other morning section review book and found them both helpful. Would definitively recommend for anyone willing to put in the time and effort to study for the FE.

Took the Industrial FE Spring 2016,Rented this book to study, forgot to study, passed the test.There is enough online material for free that this book isn't really necessary.

It basically has some questions from the industrial discipline. I wish it had detailed view as people preparing for the exam would prefer having concepts covered. I would probably take this book at the final stages of my preparation and check myself but not for preparation.

Was there anything new? Actually, as someone who's been bumming about in the woods for over a quarter century, Nestor brings up a few ideas to think about.Sadly, it's just about gear, there is no technique.But it is a nice, simple, well presented intro piece, and the case studies are nicely selected, particularly the SEALS who bit off more vacation than they could manage. I would love to see this, Bushcraft Tips & Tools, Vehicle Survival Kit You Can Live With, and Bug Out Gear for Travelers brought together into a single print volume, it would go nicely with Nestor's other books.

If you are a beginner or only have some survival experience then this is the book for you. I was an eagle scout and I was taught how to survival for short periods of time. However over the years I have forgotten a lot I had learned, plus there are now many new items out there that wasn't around when I was younger. This is an excellent book to get up to date on what's out there,plus what to use for each type of outdoor trip. I highly recommend this book and it should be something you can have before you go on any outdoor activities. I GIVE IT A FIVE STAR RATING.

An excellent, CONCISE approach to survival skills while hiking. Outdoor "common sense" is actually not common, but the result of thoughtful consideration of what might go wrong and how you will respond. This book is essential reading for all hikers, but especially solo hikers and those just getting started in this wonderful avocation.

I realized I had forgotten much that I used to know when I served in Search And Rescue years ago. There were excellent suggestions on gear that I wish I had known then. Nowadays I will use the ideas in the book for the day trips I now typically take - and I have gotten careless about my gear for those trips

As an avid hiker this book is excellent. Every hiker should read this book, make a list, and go shopping. Tony makes it easy. I wish I had his book 30 Years ago when I first started hiking. I had to learn by trial and error how to layer clothing, expect the unexpected, and plan for everything. And that means snow if hiking the Rocky Mrs in the summer. Because those mountains always have snow at the top.

As a seasoned prepper and former military I can state that this book makes total sense, it's great intro for beginners and that's what I used it for to teach my family who are altogether into the prepping mindset, also have good tips for the more serious prepper and I love how it emphasizes about what you think you need is what you have to carry and how your level of fitness will affect your ability to carry.

Basics well covered, and well explained.Useful for any person who wants to explore the outdoors, and specially for hunters or fishermen, who often don't consider what Mother Nature can bring to them.Not a lot of gadgets, just plain and simple tools and concepts, easy to apply, that will get you out of trouble, if SHTF.Highly recommended.And once you read it, go and practice the skills you've learned!!!!

The journal looks great! But you see that brown wrapper? It is wrapped around the binding and then there is plastic wrap around the whole thing. The only problem is on the back side of that brown wrapper is a UPC code and a price. It isn't a sticker on the wrapper, it is printed on the wrapper itself. Which means if you want to give this as a gift you have to take off the plastic wrap and then either mark through the price with a marker or remove the nice brown sleeve/wrapper entirely.

High quality. Really awesome books.

A must for Buffy fans.
