I’ve read many books on narcissism and they all gave me validation about what happened to me and reinforced my decision to end the relationship. I thought that leaving was all I needed to do but I came to realize that I had reduced my life, my -self- down to a mere fraction of what they were meant to be.More than a year after leaving I knew I was still not fully healed so I kept reading book after book on narcissism. It wasn’t until I read Simon’s book that I realized what was missing from the others: Instructions on how to rebuild yourself. An understanding of how a sense of self and boundaries come about in the first place.This was the only narcissism book I’ve read that gave me hope. After a lifetime of psychological abuse I can hardly express how surprised I was to feel that. In the middle of reading it, I felt a longtime queasy knot in my stomach come undone. An excellent book for someone who is seeking healing from narcissist relationships (partners and parents and employers) who has already read a lot of the literature and is looking for deeper information instead of a lot of personal stories.

I recently split up after a 23 year marriage. My wife was a skilled narcissist and I turned out to be the perfect target.However, I really didn’t have any understanding of narcissism. All I knew is that I just wanted this person to love me back and she wouldn’t. Over time my confidence was shot, I became socially inept, and my feelings of self-worth were almost completely depleted.By the way, I was a college athlete, I’ve started and built four technology companies, run marathons... One would think that I would be a super self-assured person. But, never underestimate the power of the narcissist. Especially if you marry one.Over the past six months I’ve been slowly understanding my past relationship by reading a lot of books, watching hours of YouTube videos, and visiting websites about narcissism.This book had been the best resource I’ve found. The author doesn’t dwell on the characteristics of narcissism but he zeros in on the hows and whys a narcissist effectively controls and destroys their target.More importantly, this book is all about explaining why some of us are such fruitful sources of narcissistic supply.It then does a great job of waking you up to the fact that the target also plays a role in the toxic relationship. The writer then clearly explains what you have to do to heal and build boundaries for yourself to ensure you never fall into another relationship with this horrible type of person again.Bottom line - if you don’t indentify and address your codependent traits you will never be happy and it’s likely you’ll attract another predator.If you are in the process of recovering from narcissistic abuse I highly recommend this book.

I have read many books on narcissism, all of which I bought from Amazon.com This is the only book I feel that teaches you how to heal. Many books focus on being a victim and really do not help that much with recovery from narcissistic abuse.

This book was a total bell-ringer. It starts with a slow simmer, showing the differences between those TARGETED by a narcissist, and then the behavior of NARCISSISTS themselves. Very valuable! I had to watch the charm given to me, off and on/ OTHERS, in public, but I knew what was coming later. Then, the sanctioned superiority; 23 years of hearing how me, his wife, and MY family, could never measure up to his family... The Breaking Down Your Identity (How to K a Narcissist, JH Simon, pg.87). I used to advise my EX he could be used as a secret weapon by the CIA to break down people and totally demoralize/ destroy them.After this slow simmer of heartbreaking, but necessary, revelation; the water begins to boil rigorously. The Brain Re-Washing (How to K a Narcissist, JH Simon, pg. 100) begins. Trust me, IF you want to heal from NARCISSIST ABUSE, you need to read this book and find out the seven goals, to making yourself whole, and healing the toxic shame, the narc's use to enslave you to their devious machinations. It is really a GREAT BOOK!

I know from intimate experience what being married to a narcissist is about. The damage done to the victim/target of such relentless emotional abuse is beyond description. Pathological lying, denials, excuses, lack of empathy, kindness, being starved to death of all affection, is beyond endurance. I finally bailed out and have spent the last 3 years trying to regain my true self. This book is a must read for anyone who has endured such a relationship, be it a partner, mate, friend, work related narcissist, parent, and so forth. It's impossible to describe the living Hades that one suffers. I hope that in being transparent through sharing this very personal account that it will help others. It's difficult to admit my failure by allowing my soul to be eaten alive by an all consuming narcissist, but I feel that we are here to help one another and to say my heart goes out to anyone who is still locked in the thrall of the egomaniacal narcissist who has zero consciousness about the needs of others. This is not a bid for pity, or whatever, it's facts. Read this book. And reread it until the lessons and help therein generalizes to your heart and soul. God Bless us all!

I would recommend these charts to anyone who is looking for smaller (20"x26") charts to fit on your office wall & not take up an entire wall. They are of excellent quality(exactly like the ones we had in class, only smaller)& detailed beautifully. These are charts that will last many years & will be used daily by me as well as being able to show my clients exactly which muscle they might be having poblems with. Amazon.com always has the items I need at a price that doesn't break the bank! Thanks Amazon!!

I would recommend this post to anyone who is interested in becoming more educated in health, anatomy, physiology or looking at a post full of muscles. The product does not come laminated so I had to do that on my own, thankfully a teacher helped me with that. Also you have to be careful because the product creases easily. Other thank that the product is great!

This was a Christmas gift for my teenager who has interest in Muscular System, what a great tool. He has this chart up in his room and refers to it daily. It has also been a point of reference for other members in our household. Example my younger daughter was feeling pain in her calf muscles, upon visiting the orthopedist she knew how to communicate her ailment. It looks great in his room too. Yes he also has Rugby posters and a Rugby banner.

The chart is laminated only on the front side and is packaged by rolling it up and putting it in a rectangular box. The first order was damaged because there is not enough packaging to keep the chart in tact. The other problem is that the chart gets creases in it at 6 places because it is shipped rolled instead of flat. I have been flattening the 2nd one out for a few days and it helps, but if you buy this product, expect to see creases that do not come out completely. The information on the chart itself is great, but too bad they do not know how to ship it so it looks good when you receive it.

I keep it over my computer monitor and when I'm researching about muscles and the body it comes in handy. Also has helped me memorize all the muscles in the body so I can bedazzle clients of mine with how much I know and the body and it's muscles.

The two killings have similarities, most noticeably being that both victims were to be married very soon. Yet with few clues, Finn knows he will be spending many hours investigating what is called the Groom Killer murders.There are several people who could possibly be suspects, and one is the ex-wife of the first man killed. Finn needs to find out more about Darby Gage, so he decides they should pretend to be interested in each other and start dating, which may let him discover some facts about her plus it might grab the attention of the murderer. She reluctantly goes along with his suggestion because he makes it beneficial for her, too. Finn realizes he must keep his full concentration on locating the Groom Killer, but the tempting Darby makes it difficult whenever they are together. What he does not know is that his scheme is drawing unexpected danger to both of them.COLTON’S DEADLY ENGAGEMENT is packed with secrets, emotional entanglements, and unpredicted threats. Though part of a miniseries, this story works well on its own as the author gave enough background information to let me know the reason for any happenings. What was divulged in the story was often enlightening, and I am eager for more pieces of the puzzle to become known. Addison Fox made her contribution to the Coltons of Red Ridge miniseries very entertaining, as there was much more taking place besides the murder investigation. Family matters are the focus from time to time, and the relationship of Finn and Darby is also a big part of the book. Then there are the scenes where some adorable dogs take center stage, and I especially liked the moments where these noble animals were interacting with different people. Finn is a K-9 cop, and I loved the way in which he showed his respect for his partner. Darby had not intentionally become a dog owner, so I admired how she made the best of the circumstances given her. I really liked Finn and Darby, as both are honorable people and give their assistance when someone needs it. Their conversations are candidly frank, and they proved their intelligence over and over again. COLTON’S DEADLY ENGAGEMENT is a constantly riveting story with engaging characters.I voluntarily reviewed the book and all comments are my honest opinion

The Colton books are fun to read. The characters are interesting and the heroes and heroines likable. My only problem with the books, and books in general, is that nobody proofreads them. The spellcheck seems to be the only thing that editors care about. There are extra words, words out of order, homonyms in place of the proper words, misused descriptive words.

I've read Addison's books in the past and enjoyed them. I read this one because I read the first Colton book and wanted to continue the series. I like the "engagement" premise of books and was looking forward to reading this one. I feel cheated. There was as much SUSPENSE in this book as a regular romance book has. I was thorough disappointed. Without giving anything away, the back of the book lies.

This cookbook is just brilliant! I don't know which sauce to try first. So excited. This is great!Seriously, my baked chicken is desperate to get saucy!

I am a cookbook addict and have so many cookbooks so I now take cookbooks from the library. I tagged so many recipes from this book for future use that I ended up buying the book

I enjoyed reading The Make-Ahead Sauce Solution cookbook since it provided great ideas to be more efficient in the kitchen. For years, I have done make-ahead and freeze meal preparation on the weekend to make weeknights easier. What I haven't considered is that I can also make weekend sauce batches, and that will also make cooking with time constraints less of an issue.Every sauce recipe is accompanied by different meal ideas. An example in the Asian Inspired section is a Green Onion Ginger sauce that could be paired with bokchoy, tofu, chicken, shrimp, pork, or beef. How easy to plan a shopping list and put together good meals when everything is so well organized. I have made and frozen the Thai Peanut Sauce(and paired it with the suggested pan-fried shrimp), the Parmesan Leek Sauce(with chicken), and the Cheddar Ale Sauce(over macaroni). All the meals were quite good and I would make them again. There are so many more sauces that I plan to try and with multiple pairings for each one, I will be able to refer to this book for a long time. The pictures are gorgeous and I just found this to be a well thought out and useful cookbook. The sauce recipes have 6 or less easy to find ingredients which was another plus for me. Sometimes(OK a lot of the time), I just want to cook a good meal, not a Top Chef-worthy, 4 Michelin star meal.The only thing missing for me was nutritional information.I received an e ARC from Storey Publishing through NetGalley.

The Make-Ahead Sauce Solution by Elisabeth Bailey is a fabulous cookbook as the author has presented a smart solution on how to fix meals on the fly. The author starts off her cookbook by writing about the magic of sauces, how to prepare them, and how to freeze them for later use. She includes an explanation of how to pour the sauces into freezer storage bags (which she recommends using to save freezer space) so the process is a simple one. There are photos illustrating this procedure.Each sauce recipe includes meals you can make using the recipe. The All-American Barbecue sauce gives the following meal suggestions:1 cup sauce per one pound of chicken. Serve with French fries and steamed corn.1 cup sauce per pound of pork. Serve with grits and green salad.1 cup sauce per pound of beef. Serve with biscuits and Caesar Salad.1/4 cup sauce per sandwich. Spread sauce evenly over hamburger bun. Top with cooked burger and slice of cheddar cheese. Serve with roasted mixed peppers.The author includes directions for preparing a base for you sauce. Here you will read about how to cook pasta, rice, baked potatoes, tofu, chicken, shrimp and scallops, white fish, pork and beef. PARENTS AND TEACHERS - no profanity or graphic sex. References to brief adulterous relationship. Description of children living in abject poverty during Victorian era, one violent accidental death. Recommended for kids 12 and over.I loved this book! It took a while to get going (that's why I only gave it four stars) but once I was hooked I read each page with relish. This is a mystery set in modern times, but it flashes back to multiple historical time periods and is told in more than one voice. The reader is in on secrets before the protagonist, but very little is actually given away until the end.One of the most entertaining things about this book was how I found myself constantly speculating about "what happened" often thinking I had figured a few things out. Then I'd find out I was completely wrong - I loved that cat and mouse aspect of the writing. The conclusion was very satisfying.My only criticism of the writing style would be that the Victorian era characters seemed like Dickensonian Wannabees.Overall I would recommend the book to readers who like mysteries, puzzles, and a little romance.

This is a solid book. It can be hard these days to find a novel that isn't predictable or derivative of another work. I truly enjoy novels that can surprise and shock me. This was one of them. I've had this book for about 5 years, now, and I've read it 3 times. I also recommended it to my Mother-in-Law who listened to the audiobook.The first time I read it, I stayed up the better part of two nights to finish it! Ha, I just couldn't put it down! I really wanted to see what was going to happen next, and the author did a great job of keeping me in the dark! There were a few things that I caught early, but some not until they were written right out!I loved the fairy-tales that were included with this novel! I can't believe she wrote those! They were completely unexpected, super magical, and allowed you to dive deeper into certain characters and understand their reasonings and motivations. Such a unique and awesome idea.I don't want to give anything from the plot away, as I personally hate when reviews do that! I will say that I've lent it out to friends, and reccomended it as well. I look forward to a couple of years from now when I "forget" enough and it will be a fresh read again. It gets better every time.

Well, Ms. Morton, you are, indeed, a storyteller! I've read the Lake House and now this book, and I loved both stories! I enjoy the way two very different centuries are woven together to tell this tale, and the characters are full and real.....I, as you can tell, am NOT a professional reviewer, just a book addict who wants to say thank you for sharing your talent!

What a decadent, delicious read! This is the second of Kate Morton's books that I have read and I must have more!I savored every, single page of this book. Would it be presumptuous of me to say that perhaps this is the best book I have ever read? I'm not sure, but it surely comes close.The story is mysterious, interesting and provoking. I could perhaps predict what may happen next but I would be wrong. There was only one detail in this book that I thought to know before the reader will have found out but somehow, I believe that Kate wanted it that way and even though I knew ... she uncovered the clues so deliciously that it felt good and right. Don't worry ... you will feel the sensation of validation and I certainly did. Really ... so delicious!The characters in this story were vivid, wonderful and very believable. I wanted to hate the oppressors! They were mean, vindictive, cruel, self-serving and completely without morals. How could you not love a character like that who's sole purpose was to enrich a story?! And yet, I could feel sympathy for them because they were conditioned by their environments and could only behave the way they were trained to do so.There were endearing characters in this story that you can fall in love with only to have your heart ripped out because of the circumstances that uncovered flaw and destiny. I rejoiced with them, fell in love with them, savored their innocence and understood that life's circumstances invite one to measure up, take charge or coward and withdraw in the anguish. You will always be invited to root for the underprivileged.Oh yes, a juicy read that enriches the readers life and the tickle of intimacy and creativity that invites the reader to acknowledge a longing for a life of adventure and mystery. Yes ... a little bit of history laced in the pages of this book that elude to a time long ago and happenings that the reader may not have been present for but could only imagine.Indeed, this is a book of escape where one can savor the tastes of a fine meal where the flavors dance on the tongue and travel to the stomach only to nourish the body that seeks meaning and purpose. Definitely ... a must read!

I enjoyed the book but, as other readers have noted, it was confusing at times with the back and forth between time periods. Several times I thought I had the mystery all figured out but didn't get it right until the very end. That's a good mystery! Good characterizations that were well fleshed out. I'd recommend this book and plan to read more by Kate Morton.

I enjoyed The Forgotten Garden. Morton’s beautifully descriptive writing brings the past to life as it has in her other books. But also like her other books, the story follows the same formula. A present-day narrator discovering a mystery in her family’s past and attempting to solve it. This version wasn’t quite as successful because the narrators’ voices were very similar. I enjoyed Eliza’s portions of the story more than Nell’s and felt that Cassandra and Rose’s portions were a little lackluster in comparison. Though it is a bit rambling in places and I felt the ending was predictable, it was an entertaining read.
