I loved the first edition, but the second edition lacked the details and information I use.

Great text, but my book did not include the "four color map" described here and on the book's cover. Since all the descriptions are keyed to the (missing) map coordinates, this is a significant problem. I contacted the publisher via the appropriate page on the Night + Day website, but I have received no response. This one is going back.

I really loved this book. My daughter is 5 months and we haven’t vaccinated her. Excellent book for every parent and family member who will care for babies and young children. Explanations and specifics details on what to look for and how to manage infections is well described. Will be making this my new baby gift for new parents. I knew there were answers and education besides just giving vaccines that do more harm than the infection and I found it. Parents need not be afraid but educated when doing the most important job of their lives. Education is key and this does a great job.

Misty M. Beller is one of my favorite authors, and I look forward to reading each new book that she writes. I know I won't be disappointed because her main characters have character, commitment, and much more. There's a little suspense in each of her books, history that makes me appreciate how easy I have it in life, and things I can learn from to make my life better. I love that this series is based in Wyoming because I have spent quite a bit of time there over the years. You can always expect a great read from Misty that is hard to put down!

Misty Beller is a master story teller. She weaves a tale in such a way that you become part of the experience , feel the connection of people that became family through love for each other.Opal has been through many a hardship and Matthias as well, making them both to hide their emotions deeply.I have enjoyed every book of Ms Misty Beller tremendously. They are unique, exciting, have romance as well as many a life lesson that stay with you long after the book is finished.Its binding, but not heavy, a book that I will read again, in case I missed something.

Another winner by Misty Belle. I can't say enough about why I love her books but one of my main reasons is that she develops in such a way that you can actually feel like you're right there. I also like the fact that she uses a lot of God's word in all of her books and that she allows the characters to go through hard times to show that just because we believe in God doesn't mean our life will always be perfect but by keeping faith in God and his word the best always happens

I loved the whole series, and each one seems to get better. The romance, the drama, and settings, the time period, it's all so exciting and a little scary to think of living in that era without some of our "modern" conveniences. I love how her stories come together and the way new characters are introduced for an upcoming book!

I bought the first book in this series and was so caught up in it that I immediately bought the other three. Wonderful characters, great plots and enough excitement to keep me reading.. I am only giving a review for this last book but the s@me holds true for all four...if you want to be carried back in time this is your chance.

I started this yesterday and could not put it down. I felt as if I was there in person. I could imagine the countryside and its beauty . Opal, Matthias and a host of other characters brought love , mystery and danger to a Christian read. I would recommend it to anyone .

I am sad this series has come to an end. Enjoyed it so much, as I do with all Ms. Beller's books. She brings you into the book, the towns and the characters lives. She is my favorite author. I absolutely recommend her books. You will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were good. The story was entertaining. It was a little simplistic in a few spots, but over all a good read. I really like this author. If you haven't read her other books, you're missing out.

About the Author

Cary Gillett has worked as a production manager and stage manager in the Washington DC area for almost two decades. She teaches production management and stage management at the University of Maryland, College Park, and serves as the production manager for UMD’s School of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies. In addition, she has worked as a production manager for the Round House Theatre, the Potomac Theatre Project and the Helen Hayes Awards, celebrating theatre in the Washington DC area. She is married to director and educator Bill Gillett, and together they manage their biggest production, Mary Louise. Jay Sheehan oversees the production management and stage management areas for the School of Theatre, Television and Film at San Diego State University. Jay created and leads the Certificate in Entertainment Management Program for the school. As the faculty production manager, Jay oversees all aspects of production for the eight-show main stage and student production season. When he isn’t teaching, Jay also serves as the Logistics Coordinator for the Presidents campus wide Arts Alive SDSU initiative, promoting the visual and performing arts on campus. Jay is also an Equity stage manager, and spent his early career at the Old Globe Theatre. Jay’s other jaunts around San Diego have found him as the Director of Production and Operations for the San Diego Symphony and Director of Operations for House of Blues, overseeing the 20,000 seat Coors Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. Jay is also owner of Cue One Productions, and is a freelance special event manager who produces non-profit charity & concert events in and around the United States.

A very, very basic introduction to the job of production management without many practical tools. It's hard to really quantify production management, but I think that light the asst. lighting designer's book or the stage manager's handbook that this book could have been a lot more useful if it included a lot more specifics, especially around budgeting. Useful in an educational setting but not useful even for the beginning PM once they've had a show or two under their belt.

This book is clear and concise- an easy to read guide with straightforward language. It is clear from the style of the chapters and the writing, the authors really want you to succeed as a production manager and are laying out the tools you need to do so. I highly recommend this book and the companion website to help production managers at every level, from just starting out to seasoned professional looking for a fresh approach. So incredibly worth the investment.

This publication reads like a college term paper -- lots of overview content, but not much depth. It could have benefitted greatly from an editor's review before it went to print. (Within the first couple of pages I found typos and grammatical errors. I was ready to send it back, having only gotten to page 20.). The book does provide a good general overview of what a PM does, and perhaps by the second or third edition the authors will have gained enough experience themselves to see the obvious content shortcomings.

The book is guided towards the advanced Brazilian Portuguese learner. The stories are interesting and witty, usually about urban life in Rio de Janeiro around the 1960s.It gives a good view of how middle class Brazilians lived at that time.The short stories are written by famous Brazilian writers and side notes translate difficult phrases or expressions to English.For the intermediate level learners, it would require a wide vocabulary and a very good knowledge of verb tenses, so I would recommend this book to an advanced learner. Great funny stories even for fluent or native Portuguese speakers.

A friend and I are studying Portuguese using Rosetta Stone Portuguese (Brazil) Level 1 & 2 Win/Mac Personal Edition, Brazilian podcasts, and other sources. I thought a reader would be nice to have. There are tons of French readers of various levels, but Portuguese ones are surprisingly scarce. I took a chance on this one.What I noticed right away is that the book has never even been typeset! I couldn't believe my eyes...it appears to have been printed straight from a typewritten page. It's hard to read, because first of all the type is small, and second of all, the baselines are uneven! It was first published around 1970, and it seems to have never been updated, merely reprinted, since then.The book takes newspaper stories and gives you a vocabulary and a quiz after each one. There are about 40 stories in it. It is not a beginner level book by my estimation, at least I can't understand a blessed thing in it. I think as we progress in our studies, the book may come in handy later on as we learn more words.The book is of course Brazilian Portuguese rather than European Portuguese. One thing it does have in its favor is a pretty extensive dictionary of common words and expressions.In the meantime, the search is on for the ideal. This is about all there is available for the time being. I would like to see the book updated with a bigger, more easily-read typeface and new stories.

Crônicas Brasileiras stands the test of time as one of the great "slice of life" books for anyone interested in Brazilian culture and language. I used it first as a student in the early 1980's and have continued to use it as a teacher. The editors have done an excellent job selecting stories that immerse the reader in Brazilian culture and language. My students and I thoroughly enjoy the stories. Over the years I have probably reread each one twenty times and I still enjoy them. They are a great introduction to so many wonderful Brazilian authors.

The best part is that it has a glossary with all the vocabulary in the back and footnotes at the end of the page for any colloquial phrases!

This is an excellent book for intermediate students of Brazilian Portuguese. The crônicas are excellent and provide a great deal of knowledge on Brazilian culture, life and ideas. The one criticism is that the grammar lessons could be a bit meatier, but they do provide an excellent overview of concepts and provide some new ones as well. The readings are accompanied by a great dictionary (some language books choose to skimp in their dictionary, but this book is very generous). Overall, a very good book for those that want to improve their reading comprehension in Portuguese.

In this book, the author has selected authentic Brazilian short writings, previously published, as a basis for teaching Portuguese. The writings are fascinating glimpses into the culture of Brazil, especially Rio de Janeiro, both in contemporary and past periods. The exercises are well prepared and the examples clearly show what needs to be done; my only request would be for an answer key. This book is geared for the intermediate student of Portuguese who wants to learn more.
